An international tender to select the general contractor for construction of an airfield at the Dnipro international airport has been completed.

The State Agency for Infrastructure Projects (Ukrinfraproekt) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"The most expensive international tender in the history of airport construction has been held to select the general contractor for construction of an airfield at the Dnipro airport. Its expected cost was UAH 5.69 billion. Seven companies participated in the tender, including foreign (Turkey and Belarus) companies," Ukrinfraproekt said in the statement.

According to the statement, Altis-Construction LLC offered to implement the construction project for UAH 3.95 billion, which is only UAH 10,000 less than that the Altcom company’s offer.

A contract with the winner of the tender will be signed in accordance with the law on public procurement.

The next step is to begin construction work.

A runway with a length of 3.2 kilometers is planned for construction at the Dnipro airport. According to a government expert review, the project will cost UAH 6.23 billion.

As reported previously, the parliament’s budget committee backed a proposal to allocate UAH 1.5 billion for financing the design and construction of an airfield at the Dnipropetrovsk international airport in early November 2020. The project includes construction of about 650,000 square meters of airfield pavements made of monolithic concrete, emergency rescue stations, transformer substations, rainwater treatment facilities, and facilities for water disposal, water supply, power supply, and communications, as well as airfield perimeter fencing. Installation of lighting equipment, radio and meteorological flight support systems, and building and perimeter security systems at the airport is also planned.
