The Donetsk region’s Governor Oleksandr Kikhtenko is insisting on urgent re-registration of the Donetsk railway on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities to enable resolution of the issue of transportation of coal, the Ostrov publication reports.

"Such a problem exists. I know about it... The problem is primarily in the operations of the Donetsk railway. You know that its leadership is on the territory that is not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. I raised the issue of urgent re-registration of the Donetsk railway in the city or Krasny Liman or Slavyansk today. This is a decision for Ukrzaliznytsia, and effective operation should be established today. Then, there will be no downtime and railway tracks will be repaired," said the governor.

According to him, 800 railcars loaded with coal are located on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government as of today, but they cannot go anywhere. "Multiply by that 65, and you get that quantity that our businesses urgently need," said Kikhtenko.
