Ten new low-floor Pesa trams purchased by Kyiv are already operating on the Borschahivska high-speed tram line. The entire fleet of trams operating on this line will gradually be replaced with such modern trams. Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on the NewsOne television channel, the Kyiv city administration said in a statement.
"We are buying modern trams of the fourth generation. They are quiet and have low floors, air conditioning, video surveillance, and Wi-Fi. Ten trams have already been purchased, they are already operating on the Borschahivska high-speed tram line, and we want to upgrade all the trams – 40 trams – on the line," said Klitschko. He did not say when replacement of the entire tram fleet will be completed.
As reported, the Pesa company (Poland) completed the delivery of 10 new trams to Kyiv at the end of last year.
Kyiv is also buying Elektron trams manufactured in Lviv. the Kyivpastrans municipal transport operator concluded a contract with the Elektrontrans company for purchase of seven 30-meter trams at the cost of UAH 183.750 million (including VAT) in October 2015. Delivery of the trams has already begun.
