Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian has announced that a border crossing will be opened at the Bila Tserkva airfield in autumn 2019 as part a program for development of regional airports, the CFTS portal reports, citing information from the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure.

According to the minister, the project for development of the Bila Tserkva regional airport and creation of a multimodal cargo complex based on the airport is a priority for 2019.

“The opening of the border crossing will allow performance of direct flights from/to other countries from the Bila Tserkva airfield, which will significantly increase the number of aircraft requiring repair or maintenance. The opening of the international border crossing is planned for autumn 2019,” Omelian said.

In December 2018, the reform support team at the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the results of a preliminary feasibility study for a project for restoration of the runway and construction of an airport terminal in Bila Tserkva with an estimated investment of EUR 59 million. It was also announced at the time that the airport in Bila Tserkva would be granted international status in 2019.

As the CFTS porta reported earlier, the Bila Tserkva Air Cargo Complex intends to launch air cargo transportation in 2019. The airport performed 73 “aviation operations” in 2018, and it expects the number of such operations to increase to 300 per year.
