Three companies have applied to participate in the tender for supply of 80 suburban and regional passenger electric trains worth UAH 31.5 billion to the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), according to information on the ProZorro public procurement platform, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the information, tender proposals have been received from the Kryukov Railcar Building Works, Land Holding LLC, and Stadler Bussnang AG.

Land Holding LLC is offering to supply electric passenger trains manufactured by Hitachi Rail (AC and DC trains for suburban passenger transportation and AC trains for regional passenger transportation).

As the CFTS portal reported previously, Ukrzaliznytsia invited tenders for supply of 80 suburban and regional passenger electric trains worth UAH 31.5 billion in October 2021. Ukrzaliznytsia published the relevant announcement on the ProZorro public procurement platform on 1 October. The company plans to purchase 60 suburban passenger electric trains and 20 regional passenger electric trains.

The suburban trains are intended for the City Express rail projects.

As the CFTS also reported, Ukrzaliznytsia extended the deadline for submitting applications to participate in the tender for supply of the trains until 1 December 2021 in late October 2021. "This decision was made due to active interest from potential participants, their requests for additional time to prepare high-quality tender documentation and price proposals, and Ukrzaliznytsia’s desire to provide comprehensive responses to requests for clarification from all participants," Ukrzaliznytsia said in a statement at the time.

Ukrzaliznytsia again extended the deadline for submitting proposals for the tender for supply of the 80 electric trains on 14 December.

The company extended the deadline for submitting tender proposals for supply of the 80 electric trains again on 27 January 2022. According to information on ProZorro, changes were made to the tender documentation on 26 January. The company will accept tender proposals until 8 February and bidding is scheduled for 16 March.
