The container line of the CMA CGM company will begin operation at the container terminal of the Transinvestservice company (TIS) at the Pivdennyi seaport in mid-June, TIS’ General Director Andrii Stavnytser announced in an interview with CFTS.

"A new container line will come to us in the middle of June. The CMA CGM company will provide a regular service with its steamboat," said Stavnytser.

According tom him, the service will be provided on the route Constanta-TIS-Taganrog every two weeks during the first stage. The frequency of the service may be revised in the future based on its occupancy.

The main freight traffic on the line is expected to consist of imported electronics, but the operator also expects a small amount of exports. "Unfortunately, it will be a small steamboat for now by our standards – just 95 meters in length. In any case, it is a good sign that the container terminal is coming alive,” said Stavnytser.

The general director also admitted that the container terminal is TIS’ most underdeveloped business. Until now, there was only one container service here - the Maersk Line company’s line for delivering refrigerated containers of bananas from Ecuador - and it was launched in 2011.
