The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has prepared proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on placement of orders with the Kryukovsky Railcar Building Works (Kremenchug, Poltava region) for manufacture of 50 passenger cars and 15 diesel trains this year. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement.

The orders are expected to be financed with government-guaranteed credit facilities from European and American financial institutions. According to experts with Ukrzaliznytsia, localization of production at the Kryukovsky Railcar Building Works could reach 80%.

Of the 50 passenger cars that Ukrzaliznytsia plans to purchase, nine will be sleeping cars, 25 will be compartment cars, and 16 will be couchette cars.

According to preliminary calculations, the 50 passenger cars could cost about UAH 725 million and the 15 diesel trains more than UAH 900 million.

The diesel trains will be intended for operation on routes with lengths of up to 150 kilometers.
