The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) plans to engage up to 500 additional grain wagons in the transportation of agricultural products in the near future.

Valerii Tkachov, the deputy director of Ukrzaliznytsia’s department of commercial operations, announced this during an online meeting with representatives of the grain market, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail Insider publication.

"Ukrzaliznytsia is making maximum efforts to increase its operating fleet. I would like to remind you that we currently have an operating fleet of about 7,000 wagons. Plus, we are additionally offering our customers cement trucks and mineral trucks for transporting grain... We still have plans… The board chairman has set the task of increasing the fleet of grain wagons in the near future. We will try to add up to 500 units," said Tkachev.

According to him, the company has created conditions to ensure that the cost of transporting grain in mineral and cement wagons does not differ from the cost of transporting it in grain wagons.
