The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) has directly signed a contract for the supply of 100 passenger cars with the Kryukov Railcar Building Works, according to information about the relevant tender published in the ProZorro public procurement system, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the MMC Center publication, the relevant decision was made after the failure of the first tender, in which only the Kryukov Railcar Building Works was allowed to participate.

According to the information, Ukrzaliznytsia also sent commercial proposals for the supply of 100 railcars to JSC Gomel Railcar Works, the Tulpar Carriage Works, the Kryukov Railcar Building Works, the Kharkiv railcar works, PESA Bydgoszcz JSC, Siemens Ukraine, the Tashkent passenger car manufacturing and repair plant, and Patentes Talgo, SAU.

Only the Kryukov Railcar Building Works confirmed the possibility of manufacturing the railcars within 12 months after conclusion of a contract and receipt of advance payment.

According to the terms of the tender, the delivery of the rolling stock is to be completed by the end of 2022.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov promised to conclude a contract for 100 new railcars for Ukrzaliznytsia by the end of the month at a meeting with the Kryukov Carriage Works’ head Volodymyr Prykhodko last week.
