Ukrzaliznytsia has launched a train service on the route Lviv - Polish border – Chelm.
Bidding is scheduled for 16 March.
This figure is half the figure in the pre-COVID period.
The train is carrying lumber to China.
The commuter trains will perform 18 trips on the route daily.
In total, such trains have delivered 300,000 tons of cargo to Ukraine since June 2020.
The project is based on a model under which the local authorities will pay part of Ukrzaliznytsia’s cost of transporting passengers on the route.
The Kryukov Railcar Building Works has declared that it is ready to produce 10 diesel trains per year.
The trains will most likely be registered to the Southern and Lviv railways.
It plans to purchase 80 rolling stock.
Such trains transported containers only from China to Ukraine from summer 2020 until now.
The company has modernized a commuter train to meet the needs of people with disabilities for the first time.
This was made possible by an agreement between the Ukrainian and Slovak railways and the improvement of the pandemic situation.
These are the first containers to be delivered from China along this route.
A Ukrainian DPKr-3 diesel train manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works will be operated on the route.
Preliminary agreements have been reached with Austria and Hungary.
An autorack can transport 4-8 automobiles on a single trip, depending on the dimensions of the automobiles.
The plan for 2021 is to receive up to 7 direct container trains from China every month.
The first phase of the project will be implemented in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro.
A high-speed rail project is expected to be implemented in Ukraine in three years.
